Anti-Minivan

I've had to stand firm on my anti-minivan stance. It has been an unpopular fight. (especially amongst my poor friends who already caved and drive around in one) The husband just doesn't understand why I can't, for the life of me, be tooling around in a minivan. I'm already staring down the scary reality of having 3 kids while I'm still under 30... adding a minivan would just be the needle that broke the proverbial camel's back. What next, should I invest in a good pair of jeans that go up to my boobs and cut off circulation at my ankles?!
I at least appreciate the thought behind how to look cool in a minivan, but still. I'm young! I'm not this lady! I'm not trying to out-cool myself and shove three carseats into a Lamborghini Gallardo or anything. I just refuse to drive a minivan! Yes, the only other options that will fit a sea of carseats and a triple stroller are pricier. Isn't there a price of coolness-factor that needs to be added to the equation? I thought so too.

Oh! And if you/anyone you know doesn't have a gaggle of kids who need carseats, you can buy my old car! (please!) It's sporty!

  1. Minivans aren't bad at all...once you get over caring what people think, you'll appreciate the space!

  2. I can't wait to see what you decide on. I am not a minivan person either! I just can't do it.

  3. I thought I would never do it, too -- and then I did. I love the convenience, but it still bothers me. However, I guess I'm over trying to be cool and hip (I'm a lost cause) . . . I've given up! And since I own a van, I'll totally understand if you never want to talk to me. :)

  5. Whitney does have a point! Being Daddy's girls- it's what's most important!

And for those of you who think the vans have more space- beg to differ! There's only seating for 2 on the 2nd row, so you'd have to keep the 3rd row up, and that means NO cargo room! (very important to keep stroller in and have room for groceries!)

  6. I agree with you and if you can do it my vote is Toyota Sequoia...more cargo room than the minivans and minivans generally only seat 7. Mine seats 8 unless you get the bucket seats like a minivan...and we DID look at minivans...the only one that had close to enough cargo room for strollers and groceries was Toyota (I want to say Sienna)or something like that. The excursion has the best cargo room and room for kids but not as "convenient" features and they don't make them any more so you would have to buy used...Good luck in your quest to find the "right" car for you...

  7. Thanks for stopping by my blog! I, too, am anti-minivan. We only have two kids, but so far my Honda Accord serves us just fine. And I'm pretty much the last of my friends to not make The Big Switch. I see how it would be more convenient at times, but it has yet to appeal to me.
