Sometimes Anonymity is Nice

As I'm loading up the kids in the car this morning, I'm looking less than stellar. Frankly, I'm just glad a vulture didn't start circling around my carcass. The kids? They don't want to get in the car! They found a "big ladybug" (read: cockroach! Ew!) that is dying (yay!) in the driveway. I am yelling. I am also juggling a purse and three sippies in one arm.

It is at this moment when the thought pops into my head, "Sheesh! I am so glad I do not have cameras snapping away these 'precious' moments right now." I'm always hearing about how tough it is being in the public eye. How much celebrities yearn to have a "normal" life... the life I apparently have. (Normal? Am I labeling this craziness as normal? Really?)

Sometimes you have to really search out that thing to be grateful about.

Well, then I looked at my bank account and started having second thoughts about the non-celebrity status.

Some headlines you'd be reading if I was hounded by the paparazzi day and night? They would be hilarious. And humiliating.

ASHLEY WEARS THE SAME YOGA PANTS TWO DAYS IN A ROW!
Does she even own another pair of pants?!

HAS ASHLEY SHOWERED TODAY? YOU BE THE JUDGE.
That messy ponytail is not hiding anything!

ASHLEY CAN'T AFFORD WET WIPES!
That is the only explanation we can think of when we see her baby's food smeared face! At the Target!

DOES SHE EVER TURN OFF THE DVD PLAYER?
Really? Watching Despicable Me for a 5 minute drive to the pharmacy?

CAN ASHLEY PROPERLY OPERATE A STROLLER?
Folding a stroller and packing it into the trunk- not that hard!

  1. Oh, so true. And yes, we too turn on the DVD player for a five-minute drive. I like to drive in peace!
