Making anything a big production is never a toddler-friendly operation. Add in crystal goblets and highchairs on the nice rugs, and you're just plain asking for it. Making a meal into "Thanksgiving Dinner" just means you're going to have two toddlers who don't want to eat anything, don't want to sit at the table, and will do some pretty astonishing and appalling things.
Like lining up breadcrumbs in a sequence on grandma's pretty tablecloth...
And insisting their ham be buttered, then only licking the butter off...
